Witness
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my WITNESSES in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Being witnesses to the light of God’s glory in His only Son, Jesus Christ, is the mission of the Madison, WI area-based Christian rock band called Witness. Made up of musicians from different walks of life who have played in secular bands around the Milwaukee and Madison areas, their common bond is their belief that God has called them to serve and glorify Him through music. In addition to playing their own original music, the band plays songs of artists such as Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me, Casting Crowns, Kutlass, Chris Tomlin, Todd Agnew, Jars of Clay, and Third Day.

Guitarist and vocalist Kerry Pribbenow has been a construction project manager for years and has built several churches around the country. Although he had been in a Christian band before, he began to sense that the band’s purpose had changed over the years. With 10+ years of worship leader experience, he refocused on what his mission should be: to reach people with the message of Jesus Christ through music and to praise and glorify His name.

About this time he met Curt Holm and together they formed the band Witness, taking its name from Acts 1:8. Kerry says the band’s ministry is not about the music but about the message. “The music is just the means of delivering the message of hope and the promise of eternal salvation through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We play music that glorifies the name of Jesus.” Kerry’s vision of passionate worship comes from 2 Samuel 6 where King David danced and worshiped before the Lord as the Ark was brought back to Jerusalem. Kerry says, “David was the consummate worshipper and if we look at the Scripture, we get a sense that he ROCKED…LOUD!”

Bass player Bill Cordova has 30 years of experience playing bass. He has played with many bands around Madison and he also helps lead worship at his home church. Bill began his new life in Christ 2 years ago.

Band member Curt Holm was raised Lutheran but found by his early 20s that he wanted something more. His desire to find other means of learning more about the Lord led him through many churches until 2006. Focusing on Christian contemporary music, which he realized had evolved beyond just the singing of hymns and now encompassed nearly every music genre, he was led to start playing with the worship team in his church. This eventually led him to Kerry Pribbenow, where their music relationship evolved into Witness. They have been playing together for 2-1/2 years and share the same servant heart and love of music. Curt says Christian music “is a way to reach people at places other than church, and to get the message of Jesus Christ to people who may not hear it anywhere else.”

Arthur McKee is a multi-talented keyboard player with a rock and jazz background. He was raised Catholic and still attends a Catholic church in Madison. Arthur finds his strength in the Lord in all things, and finds being a part of Witness to be exactly what he’s been seeking: an opportunity to play great music while serving the Lord.

Curt adds that Witness is also a ministry within a ministry. The band members provide help and encouragement to each other in their faith and can relate to and find solutions for the issues they all face in daily life through the Word of God. And by witnessing to others through their music, they find that they can help and encourage others to live the life that Jesus wants them to live. They want to get the message out to people that there is hope beyond the pain and despair of this world and that hope is in Jesus.

If you are interested in hearing this hard-rocking, glorifying-Jesus band, Witness is available to lead worship for church services, festivals, fundraisers, coffee houses, concerts in the park, or wherever the Lord leads them.
