Spiritual Warfare and Ministry in Wisconsin's 'Devil's Den'

MANITOWOC, Wis.
According to the Wisconsin Historical Society, Manitowoc, Wisconsin was founded in 1836 in an area named by local Indians, Spirit Land or Devils Den.

According to Pastor Steven Miles of Calvary Assembly of God in Manitowoc, the Indians had it right. This area has had a negative spiritual influence for many years, he said.

Pastor Miles has been ministering and praying over this dark area of Wisconsin for over 29 years. He knows first hand how difficult this area is to minister in due to its spiritual heritage.

In August 2008, Pastor Miles and Mike Mathews, a minister and author, originally from Wisconsin, now living in Springfield, Missouri, agreed that God was desirous to have a fresh approach to the area. Mathews explained to Pastor Miles that God is living up to His promise that in the last days God would pour out His Spirit and old men would dream dreams, and young people would have visions (Acts: 2:17-18).

On September 17-20, the church hosted a Dream Symposium featuring Mike Mathews and his wife Pam. Mathews confirmed that the simplicity of Gods promise through dreams has reaped numerous salvations and release of peoples fears over the last few months in Arkansas, Missouri, and upper Michigan.

Pastor Miles agreed to take a risk and host the four day dream symposium. As Mathews stated, The outcome was nothing short of God honoring His purpose and promise by releasing people from sin, fear, and their pent-up frustrations ...
