What did Jesus mean in Matthew 7:21-23...

Will everyone be saved? If the answer to this was yes, unconditionally, then we would have to wonder why we are still here in this sinful world rather than in heaven? What would God be waiting on then? The short answer to the question of whether everyone will be saved is sadly, NO. But this is not guess work on our part. Lets permit Jesus Himself to speak to this very question.

No. 1 Wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are MANY who go in by itNarrow is the gatewhich leads to life, and there are FEW who find it. (Mt. 7:13) Notice that Jesus makes it clear that the many who go to destruction go there as a result of their decision to live outside of Gods will. Jesus also mentions that few are really searching out salvation. They assume they will go to heaven just because. Salvation is conditional.

No. 2 Jesus, in the passage about inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me, concludes that thought by stating that God knows those who have lived the life of Jesus and those who have not. Regarding those who have not, Jesus declares: These will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. (Mt. 25:40,46). So, some will go to punishment and some to eternal life.
