New Year, New Technology

Well, 2010 is over and 2011 is beginning. For us, it is a year of promise as we bring online a number of new ministries to reach out to schools, corporations and college students! God has been gracious in 2010 and we look forward to seeing how His plan unfolds for us as we continue to move forward, seeking His will.

Since many people are in the tradition of giving presents at this time of year, I have a few technological ones that may be of help to nonprofit organizations. Some of these ideas are free while others will require a minimum investment. Either way, they can help you improve your outreach while saving costs; enabling us to be good stewards of Gods resources.

If you are looking for new software in 2011, consider looking into Tech Soup (www.techsoup.org). This is a warehouse for software that is sold to nonprofit organizations at dramatically discounted prices. We bought Windows 7 Professional Upgrade licenses for $12.00 per copy thats about 93% off the cost if you buy it from commercial sites! You will have to fill out an application and be accepted to the program, but it is worth it if you need to buy software!

Are you still paying for antivirus software? If so, you may want to look into using some of the free, alternative programs available. I have been using Avast Free Antivirus (www.avast.com) for over five years and have never had a virus! There are other free ones to consider as well, including ClamWin (www.clamwin.com) ...
