Brett ~ Age 25: From Ladies Man to Man of God

   Brett never enjoyed going to church, nor did he ever really learn much.  It seemed like the pastor gave the same sermons year after year, only making minor changes.  His parents were unable to answer questions he had about God, so when he left for college, Brett stopped going to church.  He believed in God, but he didn’t know enough about Him to understand the importance of learning more about His ways -- or building a relationship with Him.

   Once at college, Brett quickly fell into the party scene. Partying became more important than school, and he spent long, four-day weekends drinking heavily.  Known as a happy-go-lucky guy, Brett got along with everyone and was always smiling.

   He started to sleep around with girls he barely knew. If a girl got too close to him, he ran.  Brett wasn’t interested in dating or making any commitments -- sex was his primary motive.

   He slept with two girls while in medic training for the National Guard. Two or three weeks after the encounter with the second girl, she called to say she was pregnant!  Brett panicked.  After some comparative thinking, he came up with a list of reasons why she shouldn’t have the baby.  He sure didn’t want to marry her and wasn’t interested in dating her either.  Since he’d be leaving soon for Iraq, he wouldn’t be able to see the baby being born.  Besides, ...
