God Gives No 'Free Pass' to Abuse Women

   Abuse is a voluntary, intentional act done physically, emotionally/psychologically, verbally, or sexually for the purpose of harming someone else and to gain power and control. It happens among people of every religion, race, culture, and class.  Some “Christian” men claim their behavior toward their wives, family members and other people is not abusive when it obviously is.  This is especially common with psychological and verbal abuse, because those forms don’t leave physical scars. They often blame their victim for their intentional, inexcusable acts which they willfully choose to do. They might claim that they don’t know what they are doing, revealing blatant dishonesty or possible psychiatric disorder. Substance abuse may be at least partially to blame; however, many abusers don’t do drugs or alcohol. 
   There are many so called “Christian” men who will use the first part of the verse “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
