What is the True Source of Wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:25)

  A few months ago I read a popular “advice column” that has been regularly published in many, many newspapers for decades.  I found one of the questions and the answer that the columnist gave to be very interesting.  The question was a good one.  In fact, it is a question that every Bible believer should be ready to ask of anyone that they seek advice from in regard to faith, ethics, morality, and personal relationships.  The question was simple.  “Who determines right or wrong in your life, your opinions, your column?”  The person asking the question indicated that the source of the columnist’s wisdom would affect his view of how reliable her answers were.  Her answer was, “I do.”
   I do not know what the one asking the question expected to learn about the value of the wisdom and advice of the columnist from the answer given, but it should speak volumes to every Bible believing Christian.  The answer “I do” to the question “who determines right or wrong in your life” reflects the very essence of human wisdom.  It is a mere human setting himself or herself up as his/her own authority in all areas of life.  It abandons absolute right and wrong to the whims of each individual.  When each person decides for themselves what is right and wrong, we are really left without any right or wrong by which to live our lives.  When seeking co ...
