VCY America Hosts 54th Anniversary Open House

  VCY America radio celebrated its 54th year in broadcasting with an “Open House” on Saturday, May 16 at its 3434 W. Kilbourn Avenue headquarters in Milwaukee. There were guided tours of the recording studios, master control room, and music room. 
   Approximately 175 entries in the guest book were comprised of multi-generational families, couples, singles, and friends who came to join the festivity. VCY had people waiting for the doors to open at 9:00am.
   Many people were local but we had several guests who came quite a distance including a gentleman from Madison who took a bus to and from Milwaukee. The family who travelled the furthest was a Christian family from India who was in town visiting relatives.
   Upon arrival guests were welcomed by Mary Hawley, Barb Mosey, and Laurie Gatza who asked them to sign the guestbook, helped them with their belongings, and answered any initial questions. Volunteer Brian Novak escorted the guests to the “Blue Room” which was the start and finish location of the guided tours. 
   In the “Blue Room” the guests had the chance to view VCY past and present. This included viewing vintage film clips from the beginning in 1961 and showing how VCY expanded with the addition of Christian radio stations and ministries throughout the years.
