Have You Resolved?

  Now that we are in the “New Year,” how many of us have forgotten about our New Year resolutions and are continuing in our old ways?  Often we are disappointed in ourselves for our lack of fortitude and self-control that is needed to actually make the changes in our lifestyle we would like to see happen.  
   For the most part, these personal failures are of little consequence as we go on with life.  But, whether they admit it to themselves or not, every human being living on planet earth needs a “new life,” a new beginning that cannot be achieved by human effort of any kind.  To never acquire this new life will, in the end, result in the most serious consequences imaginable.  But, it is out of reach and cannot be obtained by any man or woman because the price is simply too high and no individual could ever cover the cost involved.
   So, why does everyone need this new life and why can’t they obtain it on their own?  The problem is “sin,” and the fact is that “all,” every man and woman, every human being who is living or has ever lived on this earth has sinned1 against God, is spiritually dead,2 and worthy only of His wrath3 and eternal banishment from His presence in the Lake of Fire4 that is commonly referred to as Hell.  It is an awful plight for which man has no remedy.  The “sin debt”5 of each individual must be paid to appeas ...
