Is God Calling You to Help Change the World?

   It’s surprising how often God takes the most ordinary moments in our lives and uses them as important teaching moments.  It was while my wife and I attended a recent Moody Band Concert at Wausau’s Immanuel Baptist Church that I experienced such a moment.  
   The concert was an absolute delight; talented student band members from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago sharing their music and testimonies of faith led by an animated band director. The teaching moment?  It actually came out of a statement in the concert’s program flyer: “Moody is driven by the belief that people committed to living and declaring the Word of God can actually change the world.”  The reference to “people changing the world” reminded me of the Bible Study research I had previously done on the life of D. L. Moody.
   D. L. Moody was truly a man chosen by God to change the world and like many people called by God,  he was a most unlikely candidate.  With only a fifth grade education, unable to spell, difficulty with grammar and manners that were often brash and crude, Moody nevertheless became one of the great evangelists of his time, proof once again that with God nothing is impossible. Proof also that God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips those He calls.
