VCY America: A Watchman On the Wall

   In Chapter 33 of the Book of Ezekiel, God orders Ezekiel to tell the Israelites to appoint a watchman for Israel. If the watchman sees a “sword” (danger) approach the land he is to blow the trumpet and warn the people so they can take appropriate self-defensive action. 
   If the people do not heed the warning they will die in their iniquity (sin). Likewise, if the watchman sees a “sword” approach and does not warn the people, and they die in their iniquity, the peoples’ blood will God require at the watchman’s hand. The watchman was trusted to be on the lookout day and night. 
   Ezekiel is then appointed by God to be a “Watchman” unto the house of Israel.  God will tell Ezekiel what to warn the people about. The prophesies will come from God’s mouth to Ezekiel’s ear to the people of Israel. 
   Now that Ezekiel is called to be a “Watchman” to the house of Israel, he is also cautioned that if he fails to deliver the warnings and the people die in their iniquity, the peoples’ blood will God require at Ezekiel’s hand. Ezekiel was vigilant in trumpeting the warnings from our Lord God.
