What Makes the Bible So Different From Other Books?

In Hebrews 4:12, the Bible says this: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (KJV).  The NIV describes it like this: “For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
In other words, the Bible has a power unique to itself. Isaiah 55:11 tells us, “So shall My word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (KJV). That means that God’s Word always accomplishes God’s desired effect and purpose.
The Bible is not anything like other written books, not that other books can’t affect peoples lives, but the difference is that the Bible brings about life-changing power that happens within a person’s very being. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (KJV).  In Matthew chaper 13, Jesus gave us the parable of the sower of seed....the seed was the Word of God, and Jesus described it as having the ability to bless us abundantly.
