The Vital Pre-Marriage Detail

      Detail…details…so many details!

   This is a part of the reality check when it comes to planning for the “big day.” Yes, get all those details taken care of, and we’ll be set for the “perfect” day!

   For many couples, including Christians, one of those “details” that can hold a lower priority is the “pre-marriage counseling.” For many couples  assumptions are made -- We have it all together…our love is perfect…why do we need counseling?

   Now let’s look at this scenario from a pastor’s perspective. Since I am one of them, let me share a few thoughts, tied to professional experience. Three “big” issues come to mind quickly:

   1).  Most couples have a limited understanding of God’s role in marriage… including their marriage.

   2.  Many couples presume that the sessions with the pastor are about “wedding” planning.

   3).  The spiritual side of marriage is one of the least talked about areas in planning for the wedding…let alone marriage.
