After this announcement was made public, the City of South Milwaukee blog quickly filled with comments from concerned residents. This report seemed to create quite a spark as many residents were outraged by the fact that they were not informed of the planned use of this building until after the sale.
We became involved by urging the residents to attend a common council meeting to voice their concerns. Over 100 people from South Milwaukee and surrounding communities were in attendance; many spoke in opposition to the occupancy of the mosque.
The Masjid Al-Huda South Milwaukee Campus has recently become operational.
