Humble Greatness

   His life plan was set. He had the education and credentials to be one of the truly great leaders in the Jewish church. 
   And then Jesus came on the scene. He was a self-declared teacher, but with a remarkably different agenda. This itinerant preacher from Galilee was drawing in the crowds…fellow Jews…who were captivated by His miracles and His message. This one called Jesus even had the audacity to critique Paul and his peers in the Pharisee ranks. 
   This one called Jesus had to be stopped. He was a “false teacher”… and there was a foundation for a charge of “blasphemy” as He forgave sins…which only God could do (Mark 2:7).
   The plot was formed…the death sentence pre-determined (John 11:49-53).  Jesus, and His movement, would be stopped! It is very likely the Saul was one who stood with his fellow Pharisees and demanded before Pilate-- “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” (Luke 23:21).
   Dead and buried. Yes, the plot was fulfilled. Now the Pharisees, and other religious leaders, could go back to normal lives again. 
   And then the radical news came. The tomb was empty…there was no body. The claim of a resurrection echoed through Jerusalem. His disciples declared themselves to be eye witnesses of their risen Master.
