Bringing Christmas Back to the Town Square

RACINE, Wis.
What -- or more importantly, WHO -- is the “Christmas Coalition?”
A coalition is an alliance of people for some specific reason.  Starting with a coalition of churches in 2004, dozens of citizens, small business ownwers and non-profit organizations have participated in the Christmas Coalition’s effort to restore the Nativity to Racine, Wisconsin’s Monument Square.
The unique 40-foot Nativity display on Monument Square has served as an expression of faith and as a symbol of religious freedom for all.  Based on the First Amendment to the Constitution, it is the right of every citizen to publicly display their faith.  The Nativity on Monument Square has been endorsed by the American Family Association, VCY America and other notable Christian organizations.
The Christmas Coalition is truly a community effort.  The Nativity was created and has been maintained entirely by volunteers.  All labor is unpaid.  However, funding is needed for fees, insurance, maintenance and miscellaneous expenses.  Currently there are immediate needs for more volunteers to help with this year’s project and for funding.
Volunteers are needed to help put the Nativity up at 10 am on Saturday, December 3, and then to take it down at 10 am on Saturday, January 3, 2017.
Donations toward the $2,500 annual budget are always welcome. &nb ...
