'VCY Birthday Club' Celebrates 30 Years!

   In January 1987, two outstanding children’s ministries were blessed by God and launched by VCY America. On January 1, 1987 the “Birthday Club” began and on January 3, 1987 the “Kids Talk” radio program had its first airing. 

   During the Shareathon in the fall of 1986, Mr. Vic Eliason, Executive Director and Manager of Wisconsin Voice of Christian Youth (VCY), said that a segment of the call-in time would be devoted exclusively to children and their comments.

It was also during this Shareathon that Vic gave Jim and Faith Schneider the radio names “Uncle Jim” and “Aunt Faith.” The children were relaxed and open while talking with “Uncle Jim” and “Aunt Faith.” The children were invited to send in their names, addresses, and ages to the newly formed “Birthday Club.” 

   “Uncle Jim” and “Aunt Faith” prayed to have 500 children in the club that first year but the Lord trusted them with 1,000 members!

   By its 10th Anniversary in 1997, the “Birthday Club” had 2,700 children from 20 states. With the advent of the internet enrollment in the “Birthday Club” soared.
