A Nation Gone Under

Editor, Wisconsin Christian News:

   Does God send judgment on a nation when its sin and corruption reach a boiling point?

   God hates the shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs 7:17), and in our country alone, this has meant the intentional slaughter of millions of babies since 1973.

   Add to this river of blood our out-of-control crime rate.  Crime in all categories has increased, with more than a million Americans now behind bars.

   To flaunt God’s commandments, while taking for granted His continued Scripture -- and the demise of certain nations -- tells us much.

   It should be no mystery to comprehend God’s wrath as being one of His main attributes, referred to in the Bible about 300 times.  His first concern for His universe is its moral health.  Whatever is contrary to that must, of necessity, come under His displeasure.

   The principle of “blessings for obedience” or the opposite, “curses for disobedience,” is most clearly stated by Moses in the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy.

   It would be more difficult to understand a passive God in the face of gross evil, if such were the case.  We’re created in His image, and who of us does not know the feeling of anger over injustice and sin?
