VCY Launches 2018 Bible Reading Challenge

Complimentary Story
   Do you have a Bible in your home? Do you understand what a blessing God has given you through the one Book that explains everything?  Why were we created? How do we live a life pleasing to God? Why do we die? What happens when we die?

Did you know that:
•  80% of Americans have never read the Bible through from cover to cover (Lifeway Research);
•  80% of Christians don’t read the Bible each day (Christianity Today);

   Those who read the Bible at least 4 days a week are less likely to participate in:
•  Getting drunk = 57% less likely
•  Pornography = 61% less likely
•  Gambling = 74% less likely (Back to the Bible)

   Those who read the Bible at least four days a week are more likely to be:
•  Sharing faith with others = 228% more likely
•  Discipling others = 231% more likely
•  Memorizing Scripture = 407% more likely (Back to the Bible)

   VCY is launching the 2018 Bible Reading Challenge, an exciting way to focus on God through His Word.  Each day participants will read a pre-selected portion of Scripture. When the year is complete, you will have read through the whole Bible.

   Revelation 1:3 promises a blessing to those who read or even listen to the Book of Revelation.

   The Bible gives us the knowledge we need to live our lives honorably in the sight of God. The Bible teaches us not only why we must die but how we can transition from life on earth to be forever in God’s presence.

   As we read through the Bible in 2018 we will all discover how our amazing God works through people and events as the Holy Spirit guides each of us through this lesson plan for life.

   The Bible teaches us God’s doctrines of grace, faith, and salvation, to name a few.

   The Bible gives us the knowledge we need to live our lives honorably in the sight of God through “The Ten Commandments.”

   The Bible is “exciting” in that everything written really did happen, or in the case of The Book of Revelation, is going to happen.

   The Bible is “humbling” in that we read the newborn baby Jesus Christ was laid in a manger because there was no room at the inn.

   The Bible is “awe-inspiring” because we read how countless men and women followed and trusted Jesus, not only when He walked on this earth, but continued on faithfully after His crucifixion, many dying as martyrs.

   The Bible is “breathtaking” as we read about angels who relay messages from God to men and women.

   The Bible is “frightening” as we read about the “powers of darkness,” “spiritual wickedness,” and “the wiles of the devil.”

   The Bible is “comforting” as we read how God arms His people with His own armor to combat these demonic forces. This armor includes the knowledge of God’s Word.

   We read how the prophets of old foretold the birth of Jesus hundreds of years in advance so that when Jesus was born it was not a surprise to those who had studied God’s word through His prophets.

   We read how God worked miracles in the lives of everyday people to prove his love. We read how God protected His people and the great nation of Israel.

   The Bible is clearly written even for the least educated among us. You do not need special teachers to interpret it as some “religions” tell their followers.

   During 2018, a daily email will be sent to each who signs up and participants are welcome to call the testimony line at 414-885-5370 to comment on how reading the Bible has impacted your walk with the Lord.

   To assist readers, the “One Year Bible KJV” is divided into 365 daily readings. For instance, just look for today’s date at the top of the page and read the section assigned for today.
