No Justice for Justine

   On January 15, 2018 the six month anniversary of Justine Damond’s death in a Minneapolis alley passed with little notice or fanfare.  No marches.  No outrage.  No charges. 

   On July 15, 2017, in the most profound way possible, Justine Damond’s Civil Rights were violated under “color of law.” The Australian native was deprived of not only her liberty, but her very life at the hands of a Minneapolis Police Officer.   There was no due process for Justine.  There was no equal protection under the law, either.  Her life was taken by a government actor who chose to be the judge, jury and executioner of this woman. 

   Justine called the police to report a possible sexual assault she believed was occurring behind her home in the alley next to her garage.  According to reports, Justine was wearing pajamas when she approached the squad car.  

   Officer Noor’s partner, Officer Harrity, had just engaged the woman in conversation when his partner shocked him by suddenly extending his arm in front of Officer Harrity with a gun in his hand and then pulled the trigger.  Officer Harrity’s first statement to the investigation team was that he was “stunned” by Officer Noor’s actions.  Based upon that statement, Officer Harrity, who was closest in proximity to Justine, was apparently not in fe ...
