How Can We Know God's Will For Us?

    As believers, it should be our desire to know God’s will and direction for our lives.  The Bible tells us in Mark 3:35 .....“Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”  In Matthew 21:32 Jesus rebukes the chief priests and elders for refusing to do the will of the Father; because they “did not repent and believe.”  The first step in knowing God’s will is for us to repent of our sin and trust in Christ. If we have not trusted Christ and repented we are still outside of God’s will. 

   John 1:12 tells us to first receive Christ by faith and we are made God’s children. Psalm 143:10 says.... “Teach me to do Thy will; for Thou art my God: Thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.” God wants to reveal His will for us. And the fact is that much of God’s direction can be found right in the Bible itself. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you.” 1 Peter 2:15 instructs us to do good works. And in 1 Thessalonians 4:3 the Bible says, “it is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality.”
