Progressives on the law — this January 1st in California, residents can use or sell recreational marijuana but they can’t smoke it while driving or as a passenger in a car. Question: If marijuana doesn’t negatively affect or impair judgment or motor skills as marijuana smokers claim, why would its use in a car matter?
Also, this January 1st, California declared itself a “sanctuary state” in defiance of federal law, but when Arizona passed laws to prevent illegal immigrants from getting drivers’ licenses, progressives cried, “You can’t do that, Arizona. Immigration is a federal issue.”
Progressives believe they should be able to defy any and all federal laws they don’t agree with and sue the federal government to keep getting federal funds. But when those of us wishing to uphold the Constitution and traditional values oppose something progressives want, progressives say, “But it is wrong for your states and local governments to defy new federal laws and your federal funding needs to be cut until you comply.”
