Real Godly Men

   Joshua 1: 7-9, “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.  Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” 

   Twice in this passage God tells Joshua to be strong and courageous. I hate to keep complaining about the modern church today, but are men trained to be strong and courageous? We live in a society that is so politically correct, it has crept into the church. Let me give you an example. The “love chapter” of 1 Corinthians tells us we should live in the love of the Holy Spirit. Jesus says God is love. But men in the church are so criticized these days for standing for anything, that when someone stands for God’s truth, everyone thinks they are “mean spirited.” I have heard so many times I am not gentle, caring, sympathetic. I need to be like a woman and be more “sensitive.” 

   Is this what God told Joshua?  Joshua was leading the people into a culture opposed to God’s ways and he needed to be strong ...
