What Does 'Today is the Day of Salvation' Mean?

  Let’s take a look at what the Bible has to say about this question. In Acts 3:19 it says, “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” 

   In other words, God tells us right off that we live in a sinful world and we need to repent of our sin. To repent means to change our direction in life — an “about face” — from indulging in sin and rejection of Christ to forsaking sin and receiving Christ. For the folks that choose not to repent and turn to Christ in faith will one day face eternal consequences and an eternity in hell. 

   We, as believers,  wonder why anyone would delay repentance? Yet so many do.  Many folks even admit their sin and know they need salvation, yet they choose to postpone doing so at their own peril.

   There are a number of reasons why we should not procrastinate on  repentance. The Bible’s command to repent is accompanied by an urgent appeal to do it now: 2 Corinthians 6:2 tells us, “For He saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
