Missionaries to America (Part 2)

   In Part 1 of this article I issued a call to action and I issued that call by recounting several things that have transpired since 1962 when the television show The Beverly Hillbillies aired. I also gave you a biblical basis for a call to action. The equipping for that call is found in Acts 1:1-8 where you see: (1) The power to take action – the Holy Spirit; (2) The theme – our testimonies of God’s work in our lives and His desire that all people everywhere turn to Him in saving faith; (3) We are to saturate our communities with the Gospel BEFORE we even consider going to other states or countries.

   Now, I want you to consider this passage in Acts 1 with the picture I’ve already painted courtesy of the Beverly Hillbillies.

   The Beverly Hillbillies were television missionaries to America and they were rejected. The show was cancelled while it was a top rated show. It was cancelled because America as it existed then was detested and hated primarily for its Christian roots. The message of the show was no longer acceptable to those who had the power to silence it. Friends, THAT was the beginning of censorship of the Christian message even though Christians did not see it.
