The Divine Nature and Human Nature

   The definition of the word “nature” is the basic quality, character, disposition or temperament, the way in which a thing or person exists or has been formed, with any living thing its ability to reproduce after its own kind. Believe it or not the Scripture never uses the term “human nature.”  The Scripture describes man in the words “a natural man.”   “Natural,” as defined by the original Greek word (5591-psuchikos) is the way a person reasons within himself, not thinking there is need for help from our Creator above.  The Apostle Paul says it this way. “The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:  for they are foolishness unto him:  neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”  (I Corinthians 2:14).

   The “natural body” in and of itself is neither good nor evil.  The physical body is what God created perfect in every sense.  When Adam became a living soul, it was  in the image of God; body, soul and spirit.  He depended entirely upon God for the knowledge of truth and he walked with God.  When the knowledge of evil was introduced into the world, that knowledge mortally wounded man’s spirit, perverting our every thought.  Since Adam, we have all come into a world filled with the knowledge of evil, which we are unable to escape its influence.  Thus making o ...
