Drawing the Line

   In the human heart is a desire for personal freedom.  This is made possible by God as an element of love.  Yet, herein, lies both a celebration and a challenge.

   The freedom we celebrate can also be a trap into which we walk.  To grasp this reality consider the direction one might take if there were complete freedom without any restrictions.  The outcome could be the depravity Paul talks about in his opening chapter of Romans (vss.28-31).

   Here Paul makes a specific reference to a particular sin (vss.26b-27a)…one God refers to as “detestable” in Old Testament Law (Leviticus 18:22 & 20:13).  This is the sin of homosexuality.  Such a sin is rebellion against the plan of human love that God authored - heterosexual marriage.

   We are faced with a question: Does God have the right to limit the expression of “love?”  As the Heavenly Author and Perfecter of love, the obvious answer is “Yes.”  God clearly “draws a line” in His Holy Word when it comes to sexual expression in love.  He commands us to maintain that holy “line.”
