The Great Commission

   Matthew 28:16-20. “Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.  When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.  Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”

   Jesus Christ is our teacher and Lord. He told His disciples to go to all the nations and teach everyone everything He has taught us in the gospels.  Jesus always pointed to Himself in the gospels. Jesus wanted everyone to believe He was the Son of God who came into this world to grant forgiveness of sins and repentance, a turning from sin to God. (Romans 6). 

   Jesus’ teaching was hard on the listener because Jesus, by the Spirit, always convicts us of our sinful hearts, but also offers grace and forgiveness because of His mercy. Romans says all have fallen short of God’s glory for our lives, but unless we, as His followers, teach the words of Christ to people, they will never know what it means to fall short.
