The Wait is Over!

  The time has come. The training was over. This is what the disciples had been waiting for.

   It was the waiting that had been a challenge:

• Waiting for three years for clear direction for their futures, considering the pasts they had given up.

• Waiting in wonderment and grief during the dark, three days after Gethsemane and the crucifixion.

• Waiting during the 40 days of anticipation after the resurrection.

   During those days the disciples had heard Jesus’ words: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift My Father promised, which you have heard Me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 1:4-5).

   And then He made their role crystal clear…defining the expansive mission work before them: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (vs.8).

   Holy Spirit power….witnessing for Christ.  This was worth the wait! Now was the time to move from wonderment to ACTION. They had the Gospel good news of a risen Savior to share with a desperate, dying world.
