What Do You Get Excited About?

   My wife Terry and I have a practice of doing morning meditations together, daily. We use four different Bible based guides. Recently a meditation from Max Lucado inspired me to write this article.  

   In that meditation, Max remembered back to his youth when he was seeking input from older Christians as to the direction for his own life occupation. He asked a seasoned pastor he admired, if he thought that Max would make a good preacher. His advice was, “don’t preach God’s word, unless you have to.” As Max Lucado pondered these words, he found his answer, “I have to,” Max said, “if I don’t the fire will consume me.” 

   Do you have a fire inside you that if you don’t talk about it you will burn up? What do you get really excited about? I get excited about many things. My wife tells me I am a very multi talented and complicated individual. I love the outdoors. I go fishing and hunting. I talk to wild animals and have a lot of very friendly ones in and around our yard. Yes, that complicates hunting. I have to go far enough away that we are not going to harvest one of our friends. It remains a highly respectful and grateful privilege to provide most of our food from God’s garden. My wife and I love to forage for wild vegetables, berries and other foods.
