   If there is one thing Christians do not need right now, it is another opinion article reinforcing their beliefs that abortion goes against everything we know about God’s character.  Nor do they need another talking piece that gives them recycled information that they can memorize and spew at a pro-abortion advocate on social media.  The pro-life and pro-choice arguments have been made clear and need no further exposition.  Allow me to walk us down another path…

   Ashamed as I am to confess, I recently found myself inadvertently taking part in abortion discussions on Facebook. While I find most social media outlets to be superficial and unhealthy, these deliberations took place in a semi-intellectual atmosphere created by authors who were attempting to promote respectful conversation over this palpably explosive topic with both pro-life and pro-choice advocates.  As I read the comments, I quickly began to realize that the debate seems to have truly reached a standstill in American society.  The perspectives are so established and commonplace that they are now marginal clichés, though no less impactful to those deeply rooted in their activism and since there are so few revelations about this topic anymore, the debate simply recycles itself, further entrenching people, who already yield to political identity, in their beliefs.  The vitality with which people defend their views has made persu ...
