Dealing With the Emotions of Anger

   “You have heard that the Law of Moses says, ‘Do not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are angry with someone, you are subject to judgment!” (Matthew 5:21-22).

   “Even fools are thought to be wise when they keep silent. When they keep their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.” (Proverbs 17:28).

   “A fool gives full vent to anger, but a wise person quietly holds it back.” (Proverbs 29:11).

   Spend time with God.  Be still and be filled. “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalms 46:10).

   Read and meditate on Philippians 4:6-7.

   “Know that the Lord has set apart the godly for Himself. The Lord will hear when I call to Him. In your anger, do not sin. When you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.” (Psalms 4:3-4).

   Why do people get angry?  There are many different reasons as to why people get angry:  a) you may have been treated unfairly, you’re stressed or under a lot of pressure. b) You may feel that you have no control over things. c) You may be experiencing body changes, which cause major mood swings from excitement to depression to, or just have a personality that has a short fuse.
