Wives Submit To Your Husbands?

   What does the Bible really mean when it says that a wife should be submissive to her husband? The first thing we need to realize is that the Bible is talking about a wife submitting to the leadership of a “Godly” husband. 

   We human folks tend to judge women and the concept of marriage through the eyes of the flesh and our own self-centered ideas rather than through the heart of our Creator. God commanded men to love their wives in the same way that Jesus loved us (1 John 3:16, Ephesians 5:25). If this command of God is obeyed by a husband, abuse would never happen and it would be very easy for her to submit to the leadership of her Godly husband. 

   Being submissive is a voluntary behavior. It can’t be forced on someone. Men who try to force submission actually betray the trust of the females in their lives. 

   We are told to love our neighbors  as ourselves and to treat them as we would want to be treated (Matthew 19:19). In a marriage relationship, the closest thing by comparison to a “neighbor” is your spouse. The word “submit” literally means “to put oneself in another person’s hands.”  Chaos happens when both spouses are trying to lead at the same time.
