Think on These Things

   In a day when everything around us seems to be faltering and hearts are growing cold, it’s easy to lose sight of how the Lord has called us all to “think.”  If we are not careful, our lives and society can be led captive into complete darkness merely because we are thinking on the wrong things.   

   What I at times refer to as “Stinkin’ Thinkin’,” can bring with it some very painful consequences.  The mind is Satan’s playground.  He can’t hear our thoughts because he is not omniscient as is God, but he has a history of planting deception in the minds of many great people.  His whispered lies can become well-rehearsed testimonies of defeat in our lives.

   God is Light, His Word is Truth.  The further we stray from this foundation, the darker our thoughts and our lives become.  As our Creator, God gives us much instruction on how we ought to think.  Generally, the first problem we can identify when we fall into negative and wrong thinking is that we are not reading God’s Word.  In his attempt to make his lies less identifiable, Satan and his followers have removed God’s Word from public schools, government buildings, homes, and I dare say, many churches.

   We are told to “set our mind on things above and not things of the earth,” in Colossians 3:2.   ...
