Lessons From a Donkey

   On a recent trip to San Antonio, we were blessed in so many ways.  Not only are the people in Texas over-the-top friendly, the weather exceptional, and the culture varied, we found something there we hadn’t experienced in quite some time.  It is hard to express what I mean without sounding a bit trite and I in no way mean it to be.  Yes, they have crime and it’s not perfect there, I don’t live with my head that far up in the clouds, yet.  

   But what I am talking about is an environment where a true love for God, His Truth and His people is palpable.  It is visible everywhere and not just in word, but in the mannerisms of the people despite the homelessness, drugs, and other ills.  People were smiling and everywhere we went, we were addressed as “Ma’am” or “Sir.”  Doors were opened for us, chairs pulled out to sit, urged to cut into lines, with an overall “servant is last” mentality displayed.   Prayer rooms for Vets and others were scattered down side streets where one could stop in for a cup of coffee and enjoy some fellowship with Christian believers.
