Martin Luther on the Preborn

Complimentary Story
“Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.” Proverbs 31:8.

Early Christians defied Roman Law and saved exposed babies left to die. No Church sanctioned contraception until the Anglican Lambeth Conference in 1930, under pressure from Darwinists.

Marin Luther didn’t have a modern science, he had courage. He was born on November 10, 1483 and died on February 18, 1546. He studied law, then become a monk, teaching at Wittenberg, where he nailed his 95 Theses to the Church door.  He spoke against indulgences, the easy money scam of day. At the Diet of Worms, he refused to recant, and was excommunicated.  He faced execution, but his life was saved by the Elector of Saxony. Luther married Katherina von Bora and they had six children.

Luther commented on Genesis Chapter 2, “The reproduction of his descendants takes place through procreation: but the first male was formed and created form a clod of the field, and first female from the rib of the sleeping male...After this beginning was made, then there follows the no less wonderful propagation through the union of male and female, whereby the entire human race brought into being.” (LW 1:125:125).

Luther weighed in on birth-control and planned childlessness with a scathing indictment: “Those who have no love for children are swine, stocks and logs unworthy of being called men and women; for they despise the blessing of God the Creator and Author of marriage” (LW 1:363).  He condemned Onan, in Genesis Chapter 38, “Onan must have been a malicious and incorrigible scoundrel. This is a most disgraceful sin...Consequently, he deserved to be killed by God.” (Luther's Works, Vol. 7, 20-21)

He inveighed, “Today you find many people who do not want to have children. Moreover, this callousness and inhuman attitude, which is worse than barbarous, is met with chiefly among the nobility and princes, who often refrain from marriage for this one single reason, that they might have no offspring. Surely such men deserve that their memory be blotted out from the land of the living. Who is there who would not detest these swinish monsters?” (Luther’s Works, vol. 1, 118).

Chemical abortion and battery were the methods of child murder at that time.  Luther stated, “For those who pay no attention to pregnant women and do not spare the tender fetus become murderers.” (LW 1:382). He wrote, “Therefore there should be no joking with pregnant women, but they should receive careful attention because of the fetus” (LW 1:381).  Note the focus on the child.  He further wrote, “Procreation is now hindered by a thousand diseases, and it happens that unborn children do not survive the period of gestation, or that at times marriages are altogether barren” (LW 1:133).

Luther Commentator Rev. Joel Gerlach said, “Abortion thrives only in a climate that has lost that sense of awe and reverence for God as the Creator and Author of life. First people lose their respect for God and his Word and only then do they subscribe to abortion as a person’s right.”

Luther would rebuke the monsters who run our Nation, “Likewise, it is not right for the government to take a holiday and let sin rule and for us to say nothing; We must defend God’s honor and commandments, as well as prevent injury and injustice to our neighbor” (LW 44:103).

The Milwaukee County Constitution Party asserts that abortion is America’s holocaust and a grotesque affront to God. We agree with Steven Casey’s statement, “No one should be allowed to decide that an innocent life-especially one that belongs to someone else is worthless.”

We are giving the citizen something he can do about it: to wit, copy and sign the Pre-Born Can’t Wait Petition, and send it Tony Evers asking him to enforce our anti-abortion law in defiance of the US Supreme Court.
