What is happening to the land of the free and the home of the brave? Many stand in awkward amazement, gripped by fear and plagued by worry, as we see our nation unravel before our very eyes. Covid-19, forced stay-at-home orders, curfews, flaming cities, rioting, looting, anarchy in our culture, tyranny in our government, political unrest, financial ruin, and on and on it goes. In fact, we are looking at the prospect of making history in our vexed nation. Come November elections, this may be the first time in American history we will not experience a peaceful, Constitutional transference of power and authority. Serious times indeed.
Is there a “why?” Why is this happening under our watch? Perhaps there are ideological, philosophical, political, and cultural reasons, but none of them matter if they are not based upon truth. The opinions of men do not determine truth. It is God’s Word alone that determines truth. It determines what man should believe and why man should believe it.
Keep in mind, according to Jesus, truth is the only liberating force God has granted to men and nations (John 8:32). Jesus also declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6).
The truth is, God has faithfully warned our nation for years to stop murdering His babies by abortion and quit parading our sin like Sodom. Unfortunately, most people vilified, ignored, scorned, and censored His message. This lack of regard for God’s Word happened both in the church and the state. God, however, will get the last laugh. The problem is, when God laughs in heaven it is not funny on earth (Psalms 2:4, 5).
Pay close attention to this warning from the prophet Hosea, “Hear the word of the Lord, you children of Israel, for the Lord brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: ‘There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, killing, and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, With bloodshed upon bloodshed. Therefore, the land will mourn.’” (Hosea 4:1-3a).
Notice the progression and compare it to what is happening in our nation. We have become a godless, immoral people. We do not care about truth, mercy, or the knowledge of God in the public life of our nation. We are no longer a God-fearing country that understands that self-government is the key to liberty. We have cast off all moral restraint and we are spinning out of control. Eventually, this wretched condition brings upon the land defilement, pollution, ruin, and mourning. This is what we are currently experiencing as Americans.
We named this baby found at an abortion mill in Dallas, Texas, Malachi, which means “My Messenger.” Though dead, his life still speaks. Can you hear what he is saying to America?
America has sown domestic terrorism in the womb and shed the blood of the innocent by sacrificing our children on the altar of convenience. As a result, we are reaping bloodshed in our streets. Bloodshed touches bloodshed. It breaks out like a plague. Because we did not hate bloodshed, God’s Word warns, bloodshed will pursue us (Ezekiel 35:6). We have burned to death precious babies in the womb and now our cities are in flames.
Saline abortion burned this baby to death, while American cities burn. We have severed the arms, legs, and decapitated the heads of those who are made in the image of God and now the UNITED STATES is on the brink of being torn asunder.
Roe vs. Wade and other wicked Supreme Court decisions, like Obergefell v. Hodges, have unleashed lawlessness upon us and now lawlessness rules the day.
We denied justice for the preborn and now injustice is being committed against us.
We denied our own sons and daughters the right to life, in violation of our God-given rights enshrined in the Declaration of Independence. Now we must ask, do we deserve life ourselves?
We plundered the liberty of babies in the womb and now liberty in America is gasping for survival. The death rattle is gurgling from our bloodstained and perverted land.
We must understand God will not be mocked! What we sow as a people, we shall surely reap. “For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” (Galatians 6:7, 8).
When God judged Israel for child sacrifice and for parading their sin like Sodom, He sent remedial judgment after remedial judgment upon them. The sad commentary was, “Yet you have not returned to Me.” (Amos 4). With all this disaster plaguing us, can we not muster the humility and the courage to return to God?
Like Israel, America has hardened her heart and stiffened her neck. Our abominations have reached heaven. Yet there is no sign of brokenness, contrition, or repentance.
What is the conclusion of the matter? God warned, “Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel; Because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel.” (Amos 4:12)!
Are you, as an American, prepared for this inevitable meeting? How will you meet God as an individual? How will our nation meet Him? Will it be in judgment or will it be in repentance that leads to His great salvation?
There is only one living hope and it is found in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
America can treat the symptoms of what is wrong with us all day long, but until we bring God’s axe to the root of our bloody idolatries, our nation will continue to disintegrate. The truth is abortion and all its subsequent evils must end or America as we know it ends. It is time to repent as individuals and a nation, turn back to God and believe the Gospel. The Kingdom of God is at hand!
