A Fair Response to the Fair (Part 2)
The first phrase from the respondent’s letter that I will address in this column is “I wanted to know the truth, so I took biology, geology, anthropology and physics courses in college.” What’s the assumption here? That truth can only be ascertained from science. In reality, all of our scientific conclusions are tentative, especially those regarding events in the distant past and are subject to revision. That’s why we have to update our science textbooks continually and it is to be expected.
