Jesus...Our High Priest

   “Since then, we have a great High Priest Who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who, in every respect, has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then, with confidence, draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV).

   Let me begin this article by asking the question, “Do we hold fast to our confession?” It would be nice to take the time to speak of the joy of our common salvation, and yet I feel compelled to author articles that admonish the American Church to repent and return to our first love. Even Jesus’ very own brother, Jude, wanted to spend time talking about our salvation, and yet the Holy Spirit directed him to urge his readers to contend for the Faith.

   “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 1:3 KJV).

   So, I ask again, “Do we earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints?”
