I was asked the following question which I will answer in this article. “In the translations of the Qur’an that I have seen, including the official website of Saudi Arabia, there are 7 verses in chapter one. The first verse, ‘Bismallah,’ is left out in your translation. I’m curious to know why this particular verse was left out?” Below is my reply to this question.
First of all, the statement “In the name of Allah the merciful, the merciful” is written in Chapter 1. However, I removed the number 1 in front of it in order to match the rest of the Qur’an except for Chapter 9.
Why did I do this? It is because “Allah, the merciful, the merciful” changed his mind about his mercy. As a matter of fact, he and his prophet Mohammed are oath breakers. They made covenants to not engage in war with the Christians, Jews, and others who lived in Mecca while Mohammed and his early Muslim followers were living in Medina, but since Mohammed now had 10,000 thug followers, he decided to cancel his oath and kill all infidels as stated in Qur’an 9:1-5. Therefore, the statement “in the name of Allah the merciful, the merciful” is no longer reality in Islam. I chose not to do that because the original Qur’an did not have numbers or punctuation, so the statement is there.
