
Reconciliation is a big word. Its concept is important. It means to reestablish a close relationship between two who were estranged. Satan, God’s enemy, convinced Eve that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was good for food. Eve knew that God said that they should not eat of that tree. Eve believed Satan and disobeyed God. She gave Adam of the fruit and indeed it was as Satan said, they gained the knowledge of evil! That knowledge also made them guilty. They tried to cover their nakedness and they were not satisfied with their efforts and then they tried to hide among the trees. They became a slave to Satan and estranged to God.
How were these fearful rebels going to be reconciled to their Creator? Before they sinned, they did not need any reconciliation. But now they could no longer look forward with joy to the communion they had with God before they sinned. How could the relationship be restored between man and God? How could they be reconciled? Much of the Holy Bible is the story of how God unfolded His plan of redemption and reconciliation through the Blood of Jesus. This plan was put together before the world began.
