May 2026On July 4th of this year, America will be celebrating its Semiquincentennial anniversary, marking 250 years since the adoption of the declaration of independence and a constitution based on the “Laws of Nature and Nature’s God.” Many will claim that we have “come a long way baby” and they are absolutely right, but not necessarily in a good way. For example, we are a nation where we now find the majority of our population off the farms and into the cities. American families have driven through the industrial revolution and are now in a rapidly moving phase where information and artificial intelligence will make the industrial revolution look like child’s play.
Think about it. We are already in an Uber generation where with the snap of our fingers, or perhaps better said the click of our phone, we can have our heart’s desires delivered within minutes. We have information systems delivering data to us anticipating our needs and if we don’t know what we want, this same system can help us with that as well — in a nation where the poor live like kings and queens compared to other nations. That is why we have millions of residents of other nations doing whatever they can to gain access to our goods and services knowing that if they can get a foothold in our country, their lives will be immensely better. These uninvited guests know that when it comes to materialism and easy access to services, America is at the top of the hierarchy of needs.
But what then of the family’s future? How has this first institution created for the benefit of man managed though all of these changes? Has the family remained a solid foundation or has the evolution of our nation actually caused a crack or two in our nation’s family foundation?
Before we attempt to answer the critical family question, there is one more quite relevant issue that should be looked at during our nation’s celebration and that is the moral state of our nation. In his book “Brave New World,” Aldous Huxley envisions a civilization where citizens are genetically engineered and conditioned into a strict social hierarchy. A society where technological advances, the loss of individuality, and the consequences of a society prioritizing physical happiness reign over our personal freedom and liberties. A World State, where technological advancements and social engineering have created a highly controlled Orwellian environment where the State controls who you are, what you can do and what is moral, all subject to Big Brother’s stamp of approval.
In such an environment where the State has become our Daddy, there is little need for the tradition of any family of biblical origin and it’s scary to see where our family institution is headed. We are looking at present day families whose helterskelter content, structure and practice purposely ignores the proven advantages of best practices from days past. Today’s modern family has also been devastated by abortion AND no fault divorce, the latter process leaving too many children without both of their biological parents.
Let's look at one of our supposed RED States, Ohio, a no fault divorce state where they are now talking about suicide assistance (a late, late term abortion if you will). Ohio is also a state where the general public recently voted to protect “abortion rights.” Ohio is also just one of the many states where Christian principles and practitioners have been under assault by our educational, governmental and news media institutions. This, in spite of the many who claim love, love, love — but make sure that the love emotion is not allowed for the church and practicing Christians.
This has left the USA in a moral and common sense freefall, where the majority of citizens, especially family members, are in a societal disorder. Sorry to have to say it, but when it comes to unity in America, it is no longer our mainstay. We argue, fight and in too many cases, attempt to assassinate our public leaders — all in the name of “democracy.” A nation once dedicated to our Creator has long since left the spiritual wisdom found in the Bible and now depends on the imagination of man based on secular humanism.
So, what would happen if the President of the United States and some of the aforementioned Red States officially acknowledge the importance of the tradition of the natural family — mirroring the biblical family? This would be a month to celebrate this first institution that God created for the benefit of man. They could take a week each from Mother’s day through Father’s day to celebrate individual family members starting with mother, then children, grandparents, great grandparents and extended family members? Maybe they could even celebrate some famous ancestors.
The bottom line here, folks, is that America is an amoral and unjust nation and that will not change until we get back to the foundation of all civilization and that is the family as supported by the laws of nature and nature’s God. A family with one biological born male father and female mother in a lifelong, committed, monogamous relationship with their children, biological or adopted. World history clearly tells us that where there is no biblical family foundation on which to place their hopes, nations end up in the dump heap of history like Rome and others that preceded the US.
