August 2026Well, you have to admit it, Barack Obama was right; “America is no longer a Christian nation.” Our multicultural nation has now evolved into a diverse religious country with Christianity taking up the rear. We took the Bible, prayer and the Ten Commandments off the walls and out of our public schools. Christian Churches now respond to the culture as versus influencing it and for all intent and purpose are in a “go along to get along” defensive mode. This, of course, is in observance of the 11th commandment which warns that “thou shall not offend thy fellow man.”
This has led us in a moral transition away from the “Laws of nature and natures God” in deference to man’s whims and desires leaving man’s (or should I say “them’s”) expectancy levels off the chart. In order to try to quell these insatiable desires, right and wrong are now best determined by people’s feelings. What is determined to be right and wrong is contingent on the expectancy level of the populace which not surprisingly is at an all time high. In other words, “if it feels good, do it.”
But wait, it gets “better.” With the help of this downfall of our churches and the subsequent increase in hedonism in society, the family has now become a victim of our purposeful omission of right and wrong. The State has become the daddy and children can no longer be expected to grow up in a home with both their biological mother and father. In many cases, too many children end up not living with either biological parent pushing us dangerously closer to a “Brave New World.”
We live in a nation where marriage is neither desired nor respected, especially since the advent of no fault divorce and the pressure to succeed in life, excluding raising a family of course. The lack of parental presence notwithstanding, family members are divided from family members, whether or not they are in the same home and especially under the tutelage of our public indoctrination centers that convince them that we are all victims.
So what’s the big deal anyway? We still have the good ole’ United States, right? Well, as with the church and family, there is an abundant amount of divisions as well among the peoples within our nation’s borders. Where once we were united, we are now more focused on our diversity throughout “the fruited plains.” There are two political parties and two divisions of thought on the right and on the left. When it comes to electing our public servants, our common denominators are the lesser of the evils and a candidate’s demographics. Instead of emphasizing good works and paying respect to our founding principles, the focus is on the awful things our politicians and news media can regurgitate.
Sadly, the only unity that we have remaining is that of a lack of leadership in all three of these critical public institutions. When we speak of leadership, it is important that we look back to history, bearing in mind that “those who forget history are destined to repeat it.” What we need is a proven best practice in the Church, the State and our Nation — and yes, there is a proven, best practice.
For example, the Bible records the proper leadership role in the family as having the father as the leader here on planet earth followed by the wife and then the children. This, as any honest sociologist, historian, psychologist or criminologist will attest to, provides for the best family outcome especially when it comes to children. What works for the family has historically offered a complementary consistency and unity for the other two entities and is a critical key to turning this mess around in today’s America.
So there you have it, Problem, Promise, and Solution. As goes the father so goes the family and as goes the family so goes the church and as goes the church so goes the nation. Amen?
