Rhinelander Group Trains Leaders in Nepal

RHINELANDER, Wis.
JAYMASHIH (Victory in Jesus). That is how Christians greet one another inNepal. So everywhere WILD (Wise, Intentional Leadership Development) went in Nepal, that is how we were greeted.

WILD is a young ministry that has become a key aspect of Headwaters Christian Youth in Rhinelander. More than ten years ago, as Executive Director, I saw the need to develop both young people and adults in the area of spiritual leadership. In order to give teens an understanding of what spiritual leadership was, we began teaching them in this area. At about the same time, the need to teach and train in spiritual leadership to the international community became apparent as requests came from churches and missionaries in Africa.

Due to the need for low or no cost materials and tools, high illiteracy rates and the goal to develop and empower Africans, WILD developed a teaching manual on spiritual leadership offered free of charge to participants. If Christians are going to influence their cultures, quality training tools need to be placed in their hands. In the manual, Biblical principles and practical illustrations are used.

Local Northern Wisconsin people get involved by teaching the material overseas and in the process, work to equip and empower African (and Asian) pastors and church leaders as we teach the material to them.
