ADHD Observations

I have a confession to make: I have ADHD. For those of you who dont know what that means, I cannot sit still and focusing on things becomes difficult if there are distractions around. If you ever hang out with me for a long time, youll see that I am in constant motion - even if it is just playing with paper clips. These conditions become worse if Im forced to stand in one spot for a long period of time without the ability to move. (Strange way to start an article, I know, but there is a point.)

I just came back from a youth convention this past weekend. My job, as a representative of Crescent Lake Bible Camp, was to stand in front of a display board for approximately one billion hours - ADHD makes me lose track of time - and hope for people to stop and talk with me. Since I cant stand still, this plan lasted all of five seconds

I pulled out balloons and made balloon animals for the passing teens - I love watching hulking teenage boys walk away with a pink balloon bunnies. I did some illusions, told stories and jokes and, in the midst of it all, I even had the opportunity to do a Gospel presentation for ten teens. (Some of them were already Christians and I taught them an illusion that could be used to share the truth about Christ! The others Im not sure of, but God knows their hearts.)
