Has anyone ever told you that you light up their life? I imagine if you have been very fond of someone, that person has brought enjoyment and warm feelings to you. Whenever you thought of that person, a smile came to your face. Jesus highlighted to the apostles and us who are Christians, that we are light to the world.
“You are the light of the world -- like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.” (Matthew 5:14-15). Have you ever noticed that when you walk into a completely dark room, just a little flicker of light can illuminate a large area? Jesus told the apostles that their light needed to shine, represent Him everywhere they travel.
Having had opportunities to travel by plane, I have looked down to earth during a night flight and seen how even a little light greatly illuminates the dark skies. Whether it be a few houses huddled together or a decent sized city, the light explodes into the dark. Your light impacts the world around you. You make a difference.
