Jesus is the Water of Life, and the Master Driller

   “Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’”  (John 4:13-14 ESV).

   Recently I had the opportunity to visit my cousins on their job site.  My family has been in the water well drilling business for 114 years. Water is a building block for life. It is absolutely essentially in more ways than we can even imagine. Of course, as a writer and a believer in Jesus Christ, I wanted to see what kind of parallels could be drawn between drilling and our walk with Christ. 

   For starters, we have a need for water which gives each of us a thirst that physically draws us to water.  A believer can not live without the water of life, which is Christ Jesus, our Lord, and Savior. No one can live without water, nor can the believer live without Christ. A true believer will have a thirst for the things of God, and will be fed by rivers of living water.

   Setting the drill up on a firm and level foundation reminded me as a believer of the importance of setting our life up correctly on the firm foundation which is the Word of God.  If the machine is not level, bad things can happen. The same is true with our lives. A life which is not built o ...
