Is Regular Church Attendance That Important?

   I hear all too often, “I’m a Christian, but I don’t go to any Church and I’m a better Chritian than any of those Church-goers!”  I’ll bet that sounds familiar to most Pastors and Christians in general. 

   The Bible tells us that we are to attend church to worship together as a body of Christ, to learn God’s Word with the encouragment of fellow believers and grow together spiritually. 

   Acts 2:42 says, “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” They were an example of devotion to God’s house and the things of God. In those days they likely didn’t even have a particular building that they used as a “church,” yet they met together regularly, very likely in peoples’ homes. Acts 2:46 says, “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.” 

   Healthy spiritual growth thrives on fellowship with other believers and the teaching of God’s Word. Church attendance is not just a “good idea” — it is God’s desire for all believers.
