Discipleship in Crisis

   We have been called, like Esther of old (Esther 4:14b), “for such a time as this.”

   Current day disciples have been equipped “for such a time as this.” Sovereign God has not made a mistake. He who oversees the events on earth is fully aware of whom He has chosen to be His present day disciples. 

   This leads to a pivotal question — For what have we been prepared?

   Nothing has changed in Christ’s plan.  As with the first disciples, we are called to be His “witnesses” to the world (Acts 1:8). Our Power Source remains the Holy Spirit. 

   We are to be messengers of “truth” (John 14:17a & 26). In a world filled with speculation and fiction, truth is precious and vital. Herein we find a Rock-solid foundation for hope.

   It is fascinating to note that Jesus came during a time of chaos and confusion. His timing was when the Roman government held power over the existing religion. It was a time when the future was uncertain.

   This was the time when Jesus shared this prophecy:  “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33b).

   Jesus is still the Overcomer! He is still the Source of “peace” (vs.33a). We are to be messengers of this reas ...
