God’s Gifts Equal His Grace (Part Three)

   In the last issue I discussed from the Scriptures the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the gift of wisdom; one of the many works of the Holy Spirit.  The account of creation and the garden of Eden (Genesis 1-3) demonstrates all the abundance of God’s marvelous provisions of grace to meet man’s every need, including a helpmate (Genesis 1:29).

   Before I return to the gift of forgiveness, I want to address the question: For what are we being forgiven?  God’s giving to man the gift of the freedom of choice, was not a matter of good versus evil!  Giving choices as how and when “to be fruitful” in any and all his labor (Genesis 1:28), how and when to “subdue… and have dominion… over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”  And how “to dress” and keep “the garden of Eden” (Genesis 2: 9, 15-17).  God also gave Adam the choice of his imagination to give names to every living creature (Genesis 2: 19, 20). “And whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.”  Again his choice was not a matter of good versus evil, until the knowledge of evil was introduced into the world by the eating of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil!

   The choice of what to eat and not to eat (Genesis 2:16, 17) was, so far, the only choice with serious consequences.  Needless ...
